The income tax department says that such people are on its radar. According to the income tax department, during the note-off, a total of 72 lakh people had deposited Rs 2.8 lakh crore in 13.33 lakh accounts. These 9.72 lakh people of Income Tax Department have been looked at and without informing them the department is also investigating the fact that what is the source of so many money. All these funds were deposited in these accounts within 3-4 weeks only.
The Reserve Bank, which has so far escaped disclosing the actual number of fake notes deposited after November 8, 2016, said in its Annual Report in 2016-17 that only Rs. 16,050 crores out of the old notes of Rs. 15.44 lakh crores They are not back.
